The George School is located in Essen – Heisingen. It is a public, catholic elementary school. The education is based on the principles of catholicism and encourages the coexistance of different religions and cultures and is therefore open to all pupils.

Our educational fundamentals include amongst others:

   - to reflect on your own behaviour and take responsibility for your own actions.

   - as a fundamental principle of coexistence with others.

School Program

"Learn how to learn"
The elementary school is set to prepare our children to enjoy learning throughout their whole lives. Predominantly we want to foster self -esteem, build self-confidence in your own capabilities and maintain the joy to continuously learn and make new experiences.

Individual development for each child
We offer flexible tutoring through
   - the daily plan,
   - the weekly plan,
   - work – stations,
   - workshop tuition,
   - project work.

Each child will individually progress on his/her way to success.


Cultural training

We put a lot of emphasis on the cultural learning in our school.
This part of the curriculum shall inspire sensibility, innovative spirit, zest for action and curiosity.
The musical and artistical learning helps the children to be open-minded and look at their surroundings from different angles and realize the richness of the world.
We regularly visit theatres, museums, operas and concerts and plan and perform theatre pieces and mini-musicals ourselves as well.#


Teamwork

The ability to communicate and to reach consensus, being tolerant and cooperative are important fundamentals for our successful teamwork. From the very beginning our children are taught to work together in this spirit.


School offers

Child care
   - we have flexible hours of care-taking, either until 13:30 or 16:00,
   - we offer a warm lunch service,
   - homework is supported by trained personnel,
   - sport and creative offers for the after school program are offered.


Languages

George School is a Member of the Association of European Schools of Essen.

English
Two hours per week are mandatory from Grade 1.

Other Languages
Additionally Italian, Spanish and French classes as extracurricular activity are offered.

In addition to the educational classes we offer the following workshops:
   - School Chorus Grade 1 – 4,
   - Dancing Classes Grade 2 – 4,
   - Rhythm/Drum Classes
   - Field Hockey (Talent scouting by the Etuf Hockey Club, Essen),
   - Track and field athletics.

Grade 1 Field trip,
Grade 2 Field trip and possible overnight,
Grade 3 Opti Sailingtrip with the sports club Essen at the lake Baldeney,
Grade 4 one week class trip to a farm in the area of Münster.
